Assisted by such an idyllic setting and stirring music, cooperating with your partner feels so natural. On paper it really shouldn’t work, but without the burden of a mic and a common goal to concentrate upon, it simply works. Partnered with someone who has total anonymity like yourself, yet somehow they feel like your best mate. The fact there is no tutorial – nor any need for one – it is testament to the game’s design, not necessarily its simplicity.The visuals and sound are breathtaking, but that’s not even the best aspect of the game – cooperative play.
A truly magical game, which is gameplay in its purest form. Admittedly I remained somewhat sceptical it would appeal to me, but a modest £9.99 for a download, it was a low risk punt. I would highly recommend this to anyone with even the slightest interest in planes. There’s a lot in the game they needn’t have done, but because of the love they have for what they were doing, they did. I’d like to give kudos to Gaijin for making this game and Konami for publishing it, as these games aren’t exactly in fashion. It just seems like such a complete package.Three levels of play style that should suit anyone, a lenghty campaign that can be played co-op with up to four people (including a separate dynamic campaign), various multiplayer modes, tournaments, pilot rank/levelling up and unlocks, mapable controls, good graphics, scenario missions, wealth of options and replay views and saveability, mission editor, infinite re-playability.Well, you get the picture. There’s about 100 flyable planes, including really obscure ones that not many will have even heard of. It’s easy to see Gaijin’s love of the subject matter. I’ve been playing it for a while and I’ve already fallen in love with the game. The weight of command sits heavily on my shoulders. I’d suggest maybe nursing or running a child day care centre would be more his cup of tea.I saved him on Virmire because I thought his biotic powers would be more useful to the mission than Ashley’s ability to pull a trigger, I now know I was wrong. All he does is question everything he and I do. He really is in the wrong line of work, soldiering is not his forte.
